Alabama remains one of college football’s premier powerhouse programs despite missing the college football playoffs in 2022-23 and the early betting lines for some of their games continue to show that. In five of their early gamelines, oddsmakers already have them favored 15 points in three of those games.
That includes their opening game against Middle Tennessee where they are favored by a massive 38 points, Week 4 against Ole Miss as 15.5-point favorites, and Week 6 against Arkansas as 18.5-point favorites.

The only games that they are not favored by 10 points are their Week 2 matchup against the Texas Longhorns (-6.5) and Week 8 against the Tennessee Volunteers (-9.5).
That being said, right now is the perfect time to bet on Alabama to cover in both of those games as they not only do they often win, but with commanding leads as well. Looking back to last season, they won 8 of their 13 games by a double digit margin including their last three to end the year.
Looking at their matchup against Texas, this marks the Longhorns first real test to playing in the SEC. The two teams did play last season where Bama got the win but by just a 1-point margin.
However, Texas was only able to find the endzone just once that entire game. They also lost arguably their most productive offensive player in Bijan Robinson who accounted for 1,800 yards of their offense last season.

As for their matchup with Tennessee, many are quick to bet on the Volunteers to take down Alabama after winning their matchup last season.
However, that should not be the case as prior to last season, Alabama had won 15 straight games against them with the last six coming at 10 point margins or more. In total, 13 of the 15 games during that streak were decided by more than 10 points.
Right now, you’ll only be able to bet on the spread for these games and you can expect those lines to move as the season gets closer and player news and injuries begin to break.
With that said, you can and should be betting on them as soon as possible as they could move in the opposite direction and affect where you bet. Alabama currently has the third shortest odds to win the National Championship at 550 odds and is always a strong bet to make.
