Does Damar Hamlin Deserve To Win Comeback Player Of The Year?| News Article by Bettingoddsforfree.com

With the regular season of the NFL at the halfway point, it is time to look at some of the players futures odds. Specifically the odds on who is going to win the Comeback Player of the Year award. Since these odds opened up back in February, Buffalo Bills safety, Damar Hamlin has been the favorite to win the award.

Hamlin opened with 250 odds and even saw them get as strong as -650 at one point. Since then though, they have continuously crept back up and currently sit at -110 odds.

Last season, Hamlin went into cardiac arrest on the field during a Week 17 game between the Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals. Since then, he and the Bills were in the spotlight during his recovery period until he ultimately was cleared to play.

While this is a feel good story with Hamlin being cleared to play, the issue is that he hasn’t played a snap yet during the 2023 campaign. The 2021 sixth round pick has been a healthy scratch in all of Buffalo’s games up to this point.

With that said, from an odds standpoint, many are starting to consider other options at the top of the odds board for who is going to win the Comeback Player of the Year.

Starting with Miami Dolphins QB1, Tua Tagovailoa, he suffered a traumatic concussion last season against the Cincinnati Bengals as well and is just now playing his first fully healthy season.

He has been tremendous thus far this season having thrown for 2,609 yards and 19 touchdowns while holding a 65.1 QBR which is the 8th highest in the league amongst quarterbacks. He has also helped lead them to a 6-3 record which is tied for the second-best record in the AFC.

Comeback Player of the Year odds 2023

NAME ODDS
Damar Hamlin -110
Tua Tagovailoa +200
Joshua Dobbs +475
Baker Mayfield +1500
Breece Hall +2000
Lamar Jackson +2000
Aaron Rodgers +2000
T.J. Watt +2500

When talking about a comeback, Josh Dobbs has to be mentioned as he got his real first shot at QB1 this season and has completely taken advantage of the opportunity. In the eight games he played for the Arizona Cardinals, he threw for 1,569 yards and eight touchdowns, however, he only led them to a 2-6 record.

Dobbs was traded to the Minnesota Vikings mid-season and has gone ballistic in two games with 426 passing yards, 3 passing touchdowns, 110 rushing yards, and 2 rushing TDs while winning two straight games.

Another name that should be mentioned is New York Jets RB1, Breece Hall. Hall had a tremendous rookie season that was cut short after he tore his ACL. Hall has since come back and taken charge in the Jets offense with 521 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns.
