Super Bowl LVI

Super Bowl LVI: Injury Updates | News Article by Bettingoddsforfree.com

With just a week between us and the pageantry that is America’s biggest sporting event, let’s take inventory of some key players and what impact they may have in the pinnacle contest.

Joe Burrow, QB

Week 13 injury (CBS Sports)

Burrow said he still feels residual pain from the dislocation, but we’ve seen no indication of it hampering his efforts thus far (duh, he made it to the SB bro).

Tyler Higbee, TE

Tyler Higbee is helped off the field vs the 49ers (FOX Sports)

Although Higbee escaped any dreaded structural damage, he still suffered a serious MCL-sprain which would certainly keep him out of a lesser game. While some experts feel it’s possible he could play — officially listed as “Questionable“, we can’t see him being a huge factor. The 6’6” Missouri product, TE Kendall Blanton, filled-in admirably in the NFC Championship game and he’s much more likely to be the primary target.

CJ Uzomah, TE

Much like Higbee, CJ Uzomah (also “Questionable”) was able to avoid more serious and long-term damage, but the scenario for his SB hopes are virtually the same. Should he suit up, we simply can’t rely on his output, all things considered. On the surface, Uzomah’s absence is probably a bigger hit than Higbee’s as young backup Drew Sample hasn’t been in this type of spotlight before.

Neither Uzomah nor Higbee has yet to officially practice.

Jalen Ramsey, CB

Jalen Ramsey is listed as “Questionable” with a shoulder issue. He missed practice on Friday. That said, it appears to be just an opportunity to give him rest leading up to the big game. Ramsey should be ready to roll.

Taylor Rapp, S

Rams Safety Taylor Rapp suffered a concussion in Week 18 and missed the playoffs leading up to the SB. The good news is he cleared concussion protocol and was a participant in Friday’s practice. Rapp will start in SB LVI.

Other Injury News
The following are remaining players in question:

Cincinnati:
DE -Trey Hendrickson: the pass-rush extraordinaire is expected to fully recover from an undisclosed illness and will be his usual self come SB Sunday

DE -Cam Sample: backup for Sam Hubbard has been dealing with a serious hamstring injury which happened in Week 17; should be ready for game time

DT -Josh Tupou: still nursing a slight knee problem, but will ready come kickoff; much needed depth on a D-Line already missing Larry Ogunjobi and Joseph Ossai

LA Rams:
OT -Andrew Whitworth: should be healthy to start after knee/ankle problem; will be the seventh man over 40 to play in a SB

OT -Joe Noteboom: dealing with pec injury; we’ll see how the next week goes, but we don’t expect great news

WR -Van Jefferson: limited in practice with a knee issue; we see him ready to contribute at kickoff

The next few days will define many of the questions involving the above-mentioned. We’ll stay on top of the news and update injury status once official game time designations become available.
