Philadelphia Eagles vs Washington Commanders | News Article by Bettingoddsforfree.com

The Washington Commanders era hasn’t gotten off to a great start.

They debuted their new name in their first-ever regular season game as the Commanders by barely edging out a young and incomplete Jacksonville Jaguars team.

They followed up their inconsistent Week 1 performance by losing to Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions.

Like he was as an Indianapolis Colt, Carson Wentz has been fine if not uninspiring through two games as Washington’s new man under center. In his first two outings as a Commander, Wentz has tallied seven touchdowns but threw out three interceptions as well. Add in a fumble against the Lions, and it’s clear that Wentz’s turnover troubles have followed him from Indianapolis to the nation’s capital.

While he’s gotten off to a better statistical start in Washington than with the Colts, his play has still left plenty to be desired. He’ll be running into the toughest defense he’s faced yet as a Commander, and the Philadelphia Eagles passing defense will likely give him plenty of trouble.

He’s yet to finish a game without a turnover, and the Eagles will surely be looking to continue that streak.

The NFC East was looking like one of the weakest divisions to begin the year. While they’ve opened up play better than expected with each team tallying at least one victory in their first two games, it’s clear that there’s a significant talent gap between the Eagles and the rest of the division.

With Jalen Hurts’s ascension and all of the roster additions that Philadelphia made this past offseason, the Eagles are capable of completely sweeping their division rivals. Between them, the New York Giants, and the Dallas Cowboys, with Dak Prescott’s injury, the Commanders are probably the second-toughest team in the division.

The Eagles could come out, set a tone for the rest of the season, and send a message to their division rivals by dominating the Commanders on the road this weekend.

Vegas agrees that the Eagles should be able to take this win handily on Sunday, as the odds have them favored by nearly a full touchdown at -6.5 points, even playing at FedEx Field. The oddsmakers don’t expect a ton of offensive fireworks between the two squads however, as the over/under was set at just 47 points. Philadelphia was given -265 to win outright.
